By day I look up to my dream,
For I hope my angel descends again.
By night, grasping the cliff above the void,
Lest my shadow of the night returns.
Why must my nightmare be graced by demons?
For my angel lives within the dark.
To have and to hold,
split u
s apart 'fore the hand grasps the other.
Cruel fate,
why must you loath me so?
Allow me to flee from this bittersweet place.
An iron bubble in a cave,
a splash of blue as the thin film bursts.
The darkness swallows up the shards.
Iron - strong, resilient, but prone to rusting. Mirrors relationship/hope?
Bubble - juxtaposition with iron (sense of not fitting). Joy, summer delicate.
Blue - I remeber hearing that some consider blue the colour of life (growing up)
Burst - Sudden, violent (emotionally, based on the themes of the poem)
Darkness - stereotypically used for bad emotions.
Swallows - sense of maliciousness from the darkness
Shards - sharp, cuts in to the darkness (constant reminder of the iron bubble)
